Murals

Between gesture and material, the murals unfold like a weaving of clay. Inspired by the fluidity of writing or the interlacing of fibers, they draw a rhythm where every sign finds its place. On wood or metal, movement repeats and binds, creating a space where the sensory and the intentional meet.

Each fragment is a trace, a pause in time. Much like memory, the murals breathe within the interval between what is shaped and what remains suspended.
It is there, in the silence between the pieces, that the narrative comes together.

Between father and son

  • This mural features two letters: one from Richard Bastien to his son and the other from Jeremie Bastien to his father.  I imagined a correspondence between the two men, famous chefs and owners of the Monarque restaurant.  Influenced by their respect for the butterfly and its journey, I composed a visual language essentially inspired by the organic parts of the majestic butterfly body.  Le Monarque is a legacy, a transmission; it is also a correspondence between father and son.

Telegram

  • The inspiration for this wall piece came from a telegram. It is marked by a few strong lines accentuating the short yet powerful message.

  • The inspiration for this wall piece came from a passage on marriage in Jibran’s The Prophet.

The spirit of the text was conveyed by dividing the mural into two parts one into the other, following ancient formats that included a commentary in the heart of the page.  This weaving of two texts, of different languages and intentions, is very significant and symbolic in trying to translate the essence of the author’s words on the couple.
