Basma
Based in Montreal, I work primarily with hand-building techniques and stoneware, creating vessels, wall pieces, and installations that explore memory, landscape, and cultural belonging through quiet, contemplative forms. My practice moves between object and sculpture, where the mineral and the organic continually intersect.
Alongside my studio practice and exhibitions, teaching has become an extension of my artistic life. My daily rhythm is anchored in the ritual of black tea and a fascination with plants as their subtle transformations are a constant source of contemplation and inspiration.
My relationship with clay is an enduring romance. I remain deeply devoted to this material and to a practice that continues to teach me something new every day.
